There are many things in a room that can make it “your own;” from the design aesthetic and color scheme, to the fabric choice and juxtaposition of furniture. However, when sitting down in a den, living room or sitting area, to me, it is the coffee table that can really put a mark on who you really are. What we place on our coffee table represents more of you than you think. There might be a magazine, a book, a plant, flowers, candy… the list goes on and on. So the next time you are in a room, take a moment to look at their coffee table. See what people want you to notice when gathered around their sitting area. Here are a some images of coffee tables and odds and ends that I love (I also included my own coffee table at the end!)
(if you are going to do roses, arrange them in a tight bunch, and keep in a small container as pictured above. This is more effective, and makes them look more expensive.)
(I love the idea of an old gallery tray with old perfume bottles)
(Seashells in apothecary jars.. very simple, and very chic)
(if you are not into flowers, try wheat grass in silver containers. Very sophisticated)
(one of the many uses for a mason jar...)
(I personally love potted compositions, like the one pictured above... different container of course)
(bringing the outside in... branches make a statement and add great height)
(mix and match containers and fill with favorite flowers)
(this is from my den:simple coffee table, potted orchid composition, fashion magazine, interior design coffee table book Mary McDonald, (if was around Halloween) so a candy dish with candy corn, and a hurricane filled with yarn balls that are the colors of my fabric choice...and Harper under the table!)
