Be Mine!

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, I thought it was time to plan the prefect party! Whether you are single or in a relationship, this day is about the people you love! You only have a few more weeks to put something together...
The first step in planning a party is the invitation! These are some featured designed by the talented Brittany Fuson, who just happens to be one of my best friends too! She is so talented and creative. Just visit her website or read her blog. Trust me, you will fall in love with every design!

Next on the list is to make sure that you have a clear idea of what you want your table to look like. Whether you plan to have a romantic dinner for two, or a bunch of friends over for dinner and fun, your table has to have at least some sort of theme! You should include something that people can comment on. Whether it be a simple display at their place setting, a fun signature drink or a beautiful flower arrangements- something needs to stand out!

And finally, if you have kids that happen to have a school party or birthday around this holiday- take note!

Sooooo cute!

Let's get ORGANIZED

As we are about to enter the second month of the new year, I thought that it would be appropriate to share/show some great ways to get organized! If you are like me, then that seems to get pushed off week after week...

"OK, this week I need to do this, this week I need to do that..." the list seem to pile on!!!! So my challenge to you is to start with one, ONE, project at a time. This will not only put you on the right track in your everyday life, but will also give you peace of mind. Trust me!!!!

So here are a few things to consider working on for the weekend: closets- I promise the best, and easiest way to do this is to take everything out and start with nothing. Then, if you have the space, invest in a elfa shelving unit. Great suggestion by a great friend Megan! This will allow you to see everything, and place your items accordingly.

However, if you are like me, and don't have the space, then my suggestion would be to color code all of your clothes. I did this last summer and it changes my life- well not really, but it made it so much easier when getting your day started. If your clothes are placed by color, then you will never not know where anything is- think about it!

Next up, your desk! If your desk area or work space is never tidy and organized, than how on earth do you plan to be!?!?!?! The best way to get a work space in order is once again going with a monochromatic color scheme. You can achieve this by getting inexpensive boxes and store by the category. This will make the space not only look larger, but the boxes help keep everything in once place!

Dear Suzanne Kasler, I love your office. Love Katie!

And to get those kitchen pantries looking up to speed....

I mean a girl can dream right??? love love love

So mission this weekend- get organized in one area- whether it be your closet, desk or pantry, choose one thing and get to it!

And then after everything is said and done.... this is a must!

Welcome!

Welcome! As an avid blog reader, I felt that it was time to start my own. I could spend hours at a time wandering through blog after blog, searching for the perfect one! However, I came to the conclusion that it does not exist. Each one is unique in it's own way!

So, why ".... Tied up with String"? I am taking this line from one of my favorite songs, having to do with your favorite things in life. To me, there is nothing better then a great magazine, a bath, a cup of hot tea, flowers... well, you get the point! So this is what my blog is about, my favorite things! Everything from home design, party design, fashion, do-it-yourself projects ... the list goes on!

So, to get things started, I wanted to show you all what some of my favorite things are:

With my mom being in the floral design business, I have naturally developed a love for Flowers. I am a girl that ALWAYS has to have flowers with my bedroom and den! This is the prefect touch to any room! It instantly brightens up not only the room, but you as well!

I love nothing more than a clean, white kitchen! The movie Something's Gotta Give, got it right!!! White walls (check), farm sink (check), glass-front cabibents (check) and soap stone counter tops- must have!!!!

When homeowner Christine Laughlin saw the movie Something's Gotta Give, she didn't fall in love with the plot but the kitchen. She worked with designer Robin Amorello and Sherri Cook of Cook & Cook Cabinetry to create the kitchen of her dreams.

I have to admit... I love, love, love coffee and tea!

And finally, I have a true weakness for everything fashion. I have a love for coats, and well, being the South doesn't allow me to wear them much... whoops! But Tory Burch's spring collection for 2011 is amazing.
